The Marches of Brittany
Visit the fortified castle of Fougères, founded in the 12th century to defend the Duchy of Brittany, then discover the 14th century bell tower and the 15th century church of Saint-Sulpice, built to stress the commercial and spiritual power of this ‘art and history’ city. This tour is illustrated by quotations from Romantic writers like Chateaubriand, Balzac and Hugo, who were inspired by the atmosphere of Fougères during the 19th century. This day will end with a visit to Vitré, another ‘art and history’ town in "Les Marches de Bretagne", situated on the border separating Brittany, Normandy, Anjou and Maine. Discover the fortified castle, rebuilt in the 13th century. Wander through the streets of this charming town, with its half-timbered houses and stone townhouses, built between the 15th and 18th centuries.
Friday 21
The Memorial de Caen and the Landing beaches
Before discovering the Landing beaches, take a guided tour of the Caen Memorial, a "Museum for Peace", considered to be the best World War II museum in France. Established in 1988, the Caen Memorial focuses on the events leading up to and after D-Day (Jour J). Visitors walk through an excellent five-part presentation: the lead-up to World War II; the Battle of Normandy; two video presentations; the Cold War; and the current movement for peace.
Saturday 22

Live a fabulous adventure in your vehicle. Drive through 16 parks and observe animals representing 150 wild species from the 5 continents. Get a close view of giraffes, elephants, bears, wolves, rhinoceros, hippopotamuses, lions, tigers, antelopes, watussi ...
Tour of Broceliande
The Broceliande forest, with its jagged contours and wealth of lakes and rivers, has long been associated with the Arthurian legends and their characters, such as Lancelot, Viviane, (the Lady of the Lake) and Merlin
Find out more about them by visiting Tréhorenteuc Church, the Val sans retour (Valley of No Return) and the village of Paimpont, its forges and abbey.
Tour of Saint Malo
Admire Saint Malo. During the Middle Ages this walled town was a fortified island at the mouth of the Rance River, controlling the estuary and the open sea beyond. The promontory fort of Aleth, south of the modern centre, commanded approaches to the Rance even before the Romans, but modern Saint-Malo traces its origins back to a monastic settlement founded in the 6th century. Saint-Malo had a tradition of asserting its autonomy when dealing with the French authorities and even with the local Breton authorities. From 1490 to1493, Saint-Malo declared itself to be an independent republic, taking the motto "not French, not Breton, but Malouins are".
Saint-Malo became notorious as the home of corsairs, French privateers. Jacques Cartier, who sailed the Saint Lawrence River and visited the sites of Quebec City and Montreal and is thus credited to have discovered Canada, lived in, and sailed from, Saint-Malo
Tour of the Mont Saint Michel
Be trilled by the Mont Saint Michel, this wonder of the Western world, on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. This tour will include the defensive city walls and ramparts, living spaces and shops, and the abbey and the spiritual world.
Sunday 23
Rennes and its tresors
Discover Rennes. This tour focuses on three of this city’s landmarks that must not be missed: the historic centre, the Parliament of Brittany and Thabor park.
This day trip will allow you to appreciate the riches of the capital of Brittany.
Monday 24
Tour of Morbihan
Discover Carnac, which has an extensive collection of megalithic sites consisting of burial mounds and standing stones that line the roads. A lasting testament to the building expertise of the pre-Celtic people who lived here between 5000 and 2000 B.C., these blocks of granite are well worth the detour. After lunch, this trip continues with a cruise in Gulf of Morbihan between Locmariaquer and Vannes.
